About Primus Edge
プリムスエッジという社名には、
「人が新しい世界へ踏み出す最初の一歩を支える場所でありたい」
という願いが込められています。
Primusは「第一の、最初の」を意味するラテン語。
Edgeは「境界」を意味します。それは、異なるものが出会い、
新しい可能性が生まれる場所でもあります。
人は、「境界」に立つことで、新しい価値観と出会います。
それは、他者とは限らず、まだ発見していない自分自身との
出会いかもしれません。
そして、そうした境界での「対話」を通して、自分自身の可能性を
広げていくことができます。
未知なる価値や文化に触れ、問いを持ち、対話を重ねる中で
自分自身の視野を広げながら世界と向き合う。
その経験こそが、知性を育む大切な過程だと私たちは考えています。
私たちの歩み
プリムスエッジは、英語を学ぶ意味を問い直し、
次世代が「世界と対話する知性」を磨くための学びの場として、
2017年に創業しました。
オックスフォード大学大学院での学び、東京大学大学院での研究、
そして、日本の多様な教育現場での実践を重ねる中で追究してきたのは、
英語を身につけることの先にある「世界とつながる力」です。
英語は、単なる技能ではありません。
異なる価値観を理解し、
自分自身の考えを持ち、
互いの持ち味を活かしながら、
世界と対話するための扉です。
教育は、単なる知識や技術の受け渡しではなく、
問いを持ち、自ら考え、他者や自分自身との対話を通して、

About Primus Edge
The Meaning Behind the Name
The name Primus Edge reflects our aspiration to be a place that supports individuals
as they take their first step into a new world.
Primus means “first” in Latin.
Edge means “boundary,” suggesting a place where different perspectives meet and
new possibilities emerge.
Standing at the edge of the world allows us to encounter new values and perspectives.
This encounter is not limited to discovering others. It may also be an opportunity
to discover a part of ourselves that we have not yet recognized.
Through dialogue at such boundaries, we can expand our own possibilities.
Encountering unfamiliar values and cultures, embracing questions, and engaging in
meaningful dialogue while broadening our perspectives are essential processes
in cultivating true intelligence.

Our Story
Primus Edge was founded in 2017 with a mission to rethink the meaning of
learning English and to provide a place where the next generation can cultivate
the intellect needed to engage with the world.
Through my studies at the University of Oxford’s Department of Education,
my doctoral research at the University of Tokyo, and my experiences across
diverse educational settings in Japan, I have pursued one central question:
What lies beyond acquiring English?
The answer is the ability to connect with the world.
English is not merely a skill.
It is a gateway to understanding diverse perspectives, developing one’s own
ideas, and engaging with the world through dialogue while valuing
each person’s unique strengths.
Education is not simply the transfer of knowledge or skills.
It is a process of cultivating one’s own intelligence by asking questions,
thinking independently, and engaging in dialogue with others.
